Když v květnu roku 2001 Steve Jobs otvíral první značkový obchod Applu v americkém McLeanu, prohlásil, že by chtěl co nejdříve ukousnout alespoň pět procent z tržního koláče právě pro Mac OS, počítače Apple Mac a notebooky MacBook. Podařilo se a i v globálním srovnání na StatCounteru se dnes mohou operační systémy řady Mac OS X pyšnit necelými sedmi procenty. Za oceánem se pak jablečný systém dere nad 14 procent (opět podle StatCounteru).

Windows jako celek je naprosto neohrožený – díky Widnows 7Proč to ale není alespoň 40 procent? Steve Jobs je jeden z nejcitovanějších mužů planety, jeho bílé produkty neuniknou pozornosti snad nikoho ze čtenářů a vždy vzbudí zájem. Kapesní iPod se za oceánem stal absolutním standardem a synonymem osobního hudebního přehrávače (to mi potvrdí každý, kdo se procházel po ulicích libovolné americké metropole) a také iPhone, ačkoliv dnes soupeří s populárním Androidem, zůstává nepsaným králem chytrých dotykových telefonů. Proč tedy Apple není pánem i v segmentu „nudných“ počítačů?
Důvodů je celá hromada a dobrá polovina z nich je ryze subjektivní. Co vadí jednomu, vyhovuje druhému. Co považuje za nedostatek první, vynáší k nebesům druhý. Není to jednoduché, přesto se o to pokusím. Stejné odpovědi nedávno hledal i magazín Betanews a já se je s ostatními v redakci pokusím rozšířit o několik dalších kousků.
