iSlow 3G with iOS 4.1 - better, but still not quite there

On the whole, application launches are an average of 15% slower on the iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1 than iOS 3.1.3, down from nearly 44% on iOS 4.0.1.

Some measurements from Anandtech proves, how fucked up the iOS 4 on 3G is, but misses some part of the problem, too. The iOS 4 is not only horrible in app launches but the general feel is sloooooowwwwww.
Apple has really screwed up the kernel for older devices and fixes it only partially. I don't give a fuck about new features, just gimme (and 30M other people) what I got before :-(

Podľa kubovho avataru by sa skoro ponúkalo povedať, že hodne :-)
Onderka má to video inak pekne urobené, v čase 0:35 zanechal svoju stopu @kasparek a "jeho" Guardian článok.

Serendipity in marketing

Take my local (independent) supermarket. They have a simple loyalty scheme that gives presents (a can of coke, a soup bowl..) when you spend a certain amount... but they never announce the rules. I used to think it was crazy, how can you motivate action like this? But then I realised that it is the unexpected, spontaneous act of kindness which builds true loyalty...

Found in a comment of nice article. Random act of kindness can be a really powerfull marketing tool!

Finally, statistical proof that iPhone users aren't just getting fucked by Apple

oh, also—iPhone users have more sex.

File this under "icebreakers, MacWorld '11". Finally, statistical proof that iPhone users aren't just getting fucked by Apple:

The chart pretty much speaks for itself; I'll just say that the numbers for all three brands are for 30 year-olds, so it's not a matter of older, more experienced people preferring one phone to another. We found this data as part of our general camera-efficacy analysis: we crossed all kinds of user behaviors with the camera models and found we had data on the number of sexual partners for 9,785 people with smart phones. We dropped what we found into Excel, and voila. Here's the plot by age:

Ha! :-D
Whole article is intereting, so check it out!

iPhone 4 actually drops 100% more calls then 3GS

While Jobs did admit this fact in his press conference, he mangled the stats to make the iPhone 4's dropped call increase look minor. "The iPhone 4 drops less than one additional call per 100 than the 3GS," he said. As Jobs sees it, that's not a big rise in dropped calls. Yet that's not an obvious conclusion. Last year, an AT&T spokesman told me that AT&T's average iPhone dropped-call rate is 1 percent—in other words, the old iPhone dropped one call out of 100. If the iPhone 4 drops nearly one additional call out of 100, that could be close to a 2 percent dropped-call rate—or double the dropped-call rate of the old iPhone. That sounds a lot more serious, doesn't it?

The number is 0,91% - http://daringfireball.net/linked/2010/07/21/att-antennagate
This article sums it up fine too http://daringfireball.net/2010/07/antennagate_bottom_line
Apple has fucked up the response and situation itself - the technical problem is not that critical, but the tone and approach is really wrong. Like the now infamous apple.com/antenna - just like 8 year old kids on the playground.
